Holy Is His Name

Eternal God and Father,
by whose power we are created,
and by whose love we are redeemed:
guide and strengthen us by your Spirit,
that we may give ourselves in love and service
to one another and to you;
through Jesus Christ our lord. Amen.

Almighty God,
we thank you for the gift of your holy word,
may it be a lantern to our feet,
a light to our paths,
and a strength to our lives.
Take us and use us to love and serve your world,
in the power of the Holy Spirit,
and in the name of your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

Heavenly Father,
in you we live and move and have our being.
Guide us by your Holy Spirit,
that in all the cares and occupations of our life
we may not forget you,
but may remember that we always walk in your sight;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Eternal God,
you have declared in Christ
the completion of your purpose of love.
May we live by faith, walk in hope,
and be renewed in love,
until the world reflects your glory,
and you are all in all,
even so, come Lord Jesus! Amen.

Father of light,
yours is the morning and yours is the evening;
shine in our hearts
and draw us to that light
where you live in radiant glory.
We ask this for the sake of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Teach us, good Lord,
to serve you as you deserve;
to give and not to count the cost;
to fight and not to heed the wounds;
to work and not to seek for rest;
to labour and not to ask for any reward,
other than knowing that we do your will;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

In darkness and in light,
in trouble and in joy,
help us, heavenly Father, to trust your love,
to serve your purpose, and to praise your name;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

O God, the author of peace and lover of concord,
to know you is eternal life,
to serve you is perfect freedom:
defend us your servants from all assaults of our enemies,
that we may trust in your defence
and not fear the power of any adversaries;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Eternal God, source of all holy desires,
all good counsels and all just works:
give your servants that peace
which the world cannot give,
that we may willingly obey your commandments,
and that, free from the fear of our enemies,
we may pass our time in rest and quietness;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

O God, it is your will
to hold heaven and earth in a single peace.
Let the design of your great love
shine on the waste of our wraths and sorrows;
bless the work of the United Nations Organisation;
grant to all who defend our nation
the will to serve you first of all;
and give peace among nations,
peace to your Church,
peace in our homes, and
peace in our hearts;
through Christ the Prince of Peace. Amen.

Sovereign Lord, we pray
for all whom you have called to lead the nations,
give them vision
to see clearly the issues of this time,
courage to defend what is right,
and integrity of word and deed,
that they may honour all that is true and noble,
right and pure, lovely and honourable,
following the example of our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

Lord, make us instruments of your peace:
where the is hatred, let us sow love;
where there is injury, let there be pardon;
where there is discord, union;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy;
for your mercy and for your truth’s sake. Amen.

Lighten our darkness, Lord, we pray,
and by your great mercy
defend us from all perils and dangers of this night;
for the love of your only Son,
our Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.

Creator of the universe, watch over us
and keep us in the light of your presence.
Let our praise continually blend
with that of all creation,
and bring us, with all for whom we pray,
to the eternal joys
which you promise in your love;
through Jesus Christ our Saviour. Amen.

Eternal God, source of all holy desires,
all good and all just works:
give your servants that peace
which the world cannot give,
that we may willingly obey your commandments,
and that, free from the fear of our enemies,
we may pass our time in rest and quietness;
through Jesus Christ of Lord. Amen.

Heavenly Father, you have promised
to hear what we ask in the name of your Son:
accept and fulfil our prayers,
not as we ask in our ignorance,
not as we deserve in our sinfulness,
but as you know and love us
in your Son Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Almighty God,
you have promised to hear the prayers
of those who ask in your Son’s name;
we pray that what we have asked in faith
we may receive in deed;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Almighty and eternal God,
ruler of all things in heaven and earth:
mercifully accept the prayers of your people,
and strengthen us to do your will;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Now to him who is able
through the power which is a work among us
to do immeasurably more
than all we can ask or conceive,
to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus
from generation to generation for ever. Amen.
